Protective coating being applied to large industrial pipework and flanges

Division 02 — Coatings

Protection Specified to the Environment

Coating selection follows the exposure and the surface condition. The specification decision is made before the product decision.

01Overview

Protective coating capability.

Coating systems for steelwork, pipework, vessels and structures operating in marine, offshore and petrochemical service.

A coating only performs to the standard of the surface beneath it and the environment around it. Global Solutions works from the operating environment and the achievable surface preparation standard back to the coating system, so the specification is deliverable in the conditions of the actual site.

Technical support covers specification review, product selection and documentation for the works. Where a project requires coordination with fire protection or insulation on the same asset, both disciplines are handled by the same organisation.

02Operating environments

Exposure governs the specification.

Offshore atmospheric
Continuous saline exposure, UV and wind-driven abrasion.
Splash and immersion
Cyclic wetting and permanent immersion zones on marine assets.
Process areas
Elevated temperature, chemical spillage and mechanical contact.
Buried and insulated
Corrosion under insulation and restricted-inspection surfaces.
03Support

Technical and project support.

Specification assistance, documentation and coordination with the fire protection and chemicals divisions where an asset requires more than one system.

Technical enquiry

Request a Technical Consultation.

Send the asset, the exposure and the current condition. We will respond with a coating specification route and the relevant documentation.
